No single mode fits every shipment. Road, air, and sea each offer different trade-offs between cost, speed, and capacity. Here’s how to think about it.
Road freight
Best for domestic moves across the U.S.: full truckload (FTL) or less-than-truckload (LTL). Transit is typically 2–5 business days. Cost is moderate and ideal for palletized or full-load shipments that don’t need to fly.
Air freight
When time is critical—product launches, urgent repairs, or perishables—air wins. Transit is usually 1–3 days. Expect higher cost per kg, so it’s best for smaller, high-value, or time-sensitive cargo.
Sea freight
For international or high-volume moves that aren’t time-sensitive, ocean is the most cost-effective. Transit can be 14–21+ days. Great for containerized goods and non-urgent inventory.
